 This course describes the Basic Oxygen Furnace and the steelmaking process. Developments in process control and vessel design are also outlined. The programme covers how iron is processed, a typical layout of the BOS plant, major components of a vessel additions system and an explanation of the functions of the main parts of a BOS vessel. It outlines the chemical reactions within the vessel, the constituents and uses of steelmaking slag and why deoxidation and alloying takes place. Study time: 1 - 2 hours | |
