Thousands of hours are lost each year due to accidents to people and processes, which could easily be avoided, not to mention the moral and economic implications. Risk assessment is a legal requirement. It is also fundamental to reducing accidents and the resulting injuries, damage and delays by finding hazards and putting controls in place to lessen or eliminate the risk. Corus e-Learning has produced the Risk Assessment course to explain the importance and benefits of risk assessment and to guide users through the process, using examples and a case study. It starts by describing what risk assessment is and then goes through the steps required to carry out the process. It then examines the detail of risk assessment with examples and exercises. Finally the case study is used to walk through the process from beginning, through documentation and on to remedial measures. The course is aimed at managers and their teams who will be required to carry out risk assessments. Study time: 3 hours
