To ensure this high quality, Rolling Metal Strip has developed a new preset model for their cold mill, which calculates the right set points for the regulators.
The model has the flexibility to cope with different rolling strategies and different process conditions and consists of three main parts:

A physical basis to describe the rolling process.

An effective adaptation routine to ensure accurate prediction of preset and other process values.
The new model has been a success with respect to gauge and has led to a marked increase in the life cycle of the work rolls.
