Improved lubrication performance of new Rolling Oil
Thomas Steel Strip produces nickel-plated steel strip for batteries and other items and wanted to improve the quality and product by improving the rolling oil used in cold mills.
Oil suppliers were invited to submit oil samples, which were subjected to laboratory tests. The three most successful went forward for rolling trials at the Corus Research Multi Mill.
This new oil was successfully introduced on the Thomas Steel Strip cold mill and frequent oil dumps became unnecessary, material defects decreased and output increased.
