Polymer Injection Forming

Polymer Injection Forming

What we offer

Polymer Injection Forming (PIF) is a one-step production process for your hybrid products. It combines Corus' polymer-coated steels with polymer via standard injection moulding machinery.

The polymer adds freedom of form to the steel, whereas the steel adds stiffness and looks to the polymer. The technology offers greater opportunities by embedding several product functionality features into one product and cuts down on the production and assembly steps.

Examples of applications can be found with structural and esthetical functionality:

  • In esthetical applications the technology will be combined with the beautiful Promica Pristine in housings of personal electronics and appliances. Promica Pristine is fingerprint resistant polymer coated steel with a stainless steel look.
  • In structural applications standard polymers in combination with the stiffness and crash resistance of steel can replace expensive engineering plastics in automotive and industrial applications.

As a team we can offer you our wide experience in consultancy from PIF design and PIF process development needed to realise your product innovation.
