Sustainable Development
The department is involved in developing strategies to encourage more sustainable ways of working and identifying new business opportunities. Advice can be provided on Corporate Social Responsibility reporting and the selection of suitable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for measuring progress towards targeted goals.
Eco-design
The department assists with the eco-design process, which is an important step towards developing cost effective products with improved environmental performance. This includes issues such as:

• Design for the environment.
• Extending product life.
• Eco-labelling.
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
