Corus' engineering services have in depth experience in overhauling machinery for Cement, Quarrying and mineral processing industries. We offer repair, refurbishment, enhancement and the manufacture of new plant items. Some of the projects completed to date have included the following activities: CEMENT INDUSTRY Refurbishment work has been completed on a variety of specific sub-assemblies utilised within the cement production process such as:
Hard face welding techniques were introduced during the repair of the Clinker Breaker Rotor, prior to the assembly of new hammers, bushes and pins. The complete strip down, assessment, overhaul and re-assembly of heavy Mill Rollers has allowed Corus Process Engineering to incorporate additional refurbishment developments, thus enhancing existing Pfeiffer and F.L. Smidth equipment types in the following areas:
Detailed work programmes were compiled for each Mill Unit, which covered key operations such as, the inspection of bearings, changing seals, replacing solid tyres and included the re-assembly of new components when required. QUARRYING INDUSTRY The successful repair of a large Gyratory Crusher Shaft and Core by welding and finish machining was completed as part of our ongoing involvement with the Quarrying Industry. Specific repair activities regarding Crusher Shells have incorporated machining, NDT, welding and finish machining of the taper location faces. Most of the above work was carried out at Corus Process Engineering's heavy engineering facility located in Workington, and utilised the 130 tonne overhead crane capacity available within the workshops.
