![]() Corus have the capability to redesign, re-engineer and update existing locomotives. The concept was developed by CNES when there was a need for Corus to replace its 40-year-old fleet of Janus diesel electric locomotives, after a full evaluation re-engineering was adopted. Besides the need for re-engineering and updating, this type of scheme delivers cost savings to keep steel production competitive. New power units, traction control and anti-lock braking similar to that used in most modern cars can be built into a new fleet of locomotives. | |
