 Corus operates and maintains some of the largest privately owned rail networks in Europe. One such site operates over 100 miles of heavy section track, which includes several hundred sets of automated points, many in close proximity. To move varied loads of raw materials, molten metal and finished steel product across this site, the rolling fleet comprises 32 locomotives, 400 wagons and 28 torpedos of 600 tonnes GVW (axle weight 50 tonne, twice that of the maximum found on the UK mainline). The railway workshops support this and offer the following services to other railway operators. | |
