Location: Middle East Over a period of seven years in the 1980's, Corus Consulting provided assistance to improve operating performance and implement a rehabilitation programme, funded by the World Bank, at an integrated iron and steelworks in the Middle East. The plant included blast furnace ironmaking, BOS steelmaking, continuous slab and bloom casting, long product mills, hot strip mill and cold mill complex. The rehabilitation programme was designed to increase production, to improve process control and operating practices, to reduce production costs, to increase productivity and to improve quality. The initial plan of work was concerned with identifying problems in plant operations and, in conjunction with the local management, establishing priorities and preparing an implementation programme for modification, enhancement and operations improvement. In order to assist in undertaking this programme, Corus Consulting established a resident team of experienced operations and maintenance advisers. | |
