Environmental Impact Assessment

Environmental Impact Assessment

Corus Consulting offers a wide range of services in the assessment of environmental impact, including:

Assessment of the impact of pollutant releases to air (ambient air pollution and deposition to land) and liquid effluent discharges (impact on rivers, estuaries or the sea) from point, line and area sources on the surrounding environment.

Modelling techniques to predict contributions from specific sources or groups of sources. Computer modelling software (including ADMS and AERMOD for atmospheric emissions) is used to determine the predicted contributions. Modelling results can be supported by field measurements, including background pollutant levels.

Assessment of discharges to air, water and land by comparing total concentrations with Environmental Assessment Levels (either statutory or indicative) included in the E1 guidance and the new H1 guidance proposed by the UK Environment Agency. This gives a measure of the likely significance of the emissions. This approach has already been used in applications for site IPPC licences.

Corus have extensive experience in undertaking environmental impact assessments to satisfy IPPC requirements. These assessments have been undertaken in accordance with the Environment Agency’s Guidance Document. Where more detailed modelling was required atmospheric dispersion modelling and ambient air monitoring has also been incorporated.
