Location: Central Europe A number of assignments undertaken by Corus Consulting have involved provision of assistance to metals producers, investment banks, government agencies and other organisations in the process of privatisation. Restructuring of a company's operations is sometimes necessary prior to privatisation and Corus Consulting has prepared strategies and plans for restructuring. Also, advice and support has been given in the valuation of companies which are ready for sale. Corus Consulting was appointed as technical consultant, together with an investment bank, to provide advice in the preparations required for the privatisation of a major integrated iron and steelworks in Central Europe. Corus Consulting completed a comprehensive diagnostic and strategic study, including detailed market, technical and cost competitiveness assessments, which provided the basis for a restructuring plan, privatisation strategy and bankable documents. Under the EU Phare fund, Corus Consulting was commissioned to undertake a study which aimed to develop a restructuring programme for a Central European steelworks. A business plan was drawn up covering market, technology, product range, environment, human resources and finance. The business plan provided the basis for preparation of a tender for privatisation, which was subsequently realised. As a result, the Phare fund also appointed Corus Consulting to assess the current status of a rolling mill making construction steels in Central Europe, and to review strategic options for its future development. The technical and market assessment, and strategic analysis, were used to support the tender for privatisation of the company. | |
